Moments in Midnight

I wake up to the sound of my heart beating too fast.
Sunlight burns my skin and makes me wonder how long my wounds will last.
Thinking of midnight.
Thinking of you.
Thinking of my body beaten, beautiful, and blue.
Thinking of midnight, thinking of blue.
Shades that color me sad and ugly and true.

Sleeping and dreaming to recycle the magic of my past.
Cling to remnants of love so they last.
Sleep soundly and long for the comforts of home.
Blankets of darkness cover me and make me less alone.

Wake up and eat life’s leftovers too fast.
Wish midnight was more than a moment.
More than my past.
