Three Youtube Channels For Book Lovers

I indulge in a good book. So much so that it is not an indulgence but more an anchor to keep me steady throughout the day. However, there is one thing I might love more than my books, technology. What can I say? I love to watch videos about a book rather than reading the book itself! Dumb I know.

Sadly, I have yet to free myself from the shackles of BookTok. So, for a healthier fix, I supplement my cravings with a good youtube channel. BookTube is BookTok’s stable older sister. She is far less repetitive and far more trustworthy. So I present to you…three of my favorite book-related youtube channels! (And my favorite video from their channel) Enjoy!

1. Jack In the Books

Jack Edward’s primary channel is an obvious choice. However, I prefer his more laid-back second channel when looking for an in-depth book review or a book haul from one of my favorite YouTubers. Unlike his main channel, In “Jack in the Books,” Jack provides us with a casual and comprehensive review of specific books. I prefer such reviews since they tend to effectively convince me to make or purchase or not do so at all. His review of A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara changed several opinions on the novel. His review of Kazuo Ishiguro’s Klara and The Sun tempted me to purchase the novel myself. (I have not purchased it yet because this is my first week working after a month, so I am broke. But I will once that paycheck comes in. :/ )

2. uncarley

When looking for a good BookTube channel, I search for two things. One review that reflects intellect and opinion, and two, sarcasm. uncarley is a glorious mix of the two. I often find humor crucial to keeping me entertained; even with books I think I would find incredibly dull, her wit manages to make the mundane interesting.

3. Christophers Book Club

When I was finished with A Little Life, I was frantically searching for reviews on the novel that reflected how I felt about the book. Where “Jack In the Books” changed the way I thought about the story, “Christophers Book Club” reassured me as to why I loved it in the first place. His video titled “How To Get Out of a Reading Slump” gave insightful tips on a phenomenon I am familiar with.

>>Hey! So this is my first more informal post of many. I plan many essay-based articles soon since life has been too crazy to write but too crazy not to write about. See you soon!
